How It Works
Pregabalin decreases the release of certain neurotransmitters in the nerves. It reduces overactive nerve signaling, helping control pain and seizures. This results in better sleep, reduced pain, and improved daily functioning.
Dosage
Starting dose is generally 75 mg once or twice daily. Doctors may increase up to 300–600 mg/day depending on response. Dose adjustments are needed for kidney impairment.
Side Effects
Frequent effects include drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, and dry mouth. Some patients experience blurred vision, swelling, or concentration problems. Stopping suddenly can lead to withdrawal symptoms.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Pregabalin should be used during pregnancy only if necessary. It passes into breast milk and may affect infants. Breastfeeding is usually avoided unless supervised by a doctor.
Storage
Store at room temperature below 25°C. Keep away from moisture and sunlight. Store securely, out of children’s reach.
UK Regulation
Pregabalin is a Prescription-Only Medicine (POM). It is classified as a Schedule 3 controlled drug. Possession or supply without a prescription is illegal.
